ABOUT THE CLIENT

 

Serving Black Moms & Babies Since 2014, BBC has evolved into a multi-layered, holistic set of services that, in addition to pregnancy and postpartum support, gives local women from historically economically depressed neighborhoods, opportunities to increase their personal and family wealth through employment with livable wages, and address other needs that inhibit their quality of life and that of their children and families.

THE CHALLENGE

Birthing Beautiful Communities has come to us to design all signage and come up with a way to display their work for their events in an interactive way. For their Annual event, the MiraCLE gala, we created a series of pop-up banners, each with their own intention. Three were designed with major statistics to catch the eye of bystanders and make them read how BBC is combatting Black infant mortality. Three were created with beautiful large portraits to reflect the emotion and beauty behind the client interactions, and three were created with testimonials from doulas and clients to showcase the effect Birthing Beautiful Communities has on the community around them.

Installation design was something that we felt we had to really incorporate into each of these events. The pop-up banners have been used at MiraCLE to create a "exhibit experience" that explains the cause and effect of the BBC experience.
